AgDay, AgWeek, AgMonth
March 7, 2024
“Rural America is the backbone of this country, and the strength of our agricultural and rural communities supports the vitality and prosperity of our entire country … Because of the efforts of our agricultural communities … America benefits from a rich abundance of safe and nutritious food, which allows us to thrive as one of the few nations on earth that is food secure … American agriculture is able to lead the world into a climate-smart future as farmers, ranchers, and producers take seriously their responsibility to be stewards of our land and water.” - Tom Vilsack, Agriculture Secretary
AgDay, AgWeek, AgMonth
Since 1973, after forming the Agriculture Council of America (ACA), America has acknowledged the third Tuesday in March as National Ag Day. Because of the agricultural industry’s importance, this acknowledgment expands to a week or a month in some American sectors.
As stated on ACA’s website, “ACA believes that every American should:
- Understand how food and fiber products are produced.
- Appreciate the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant, and affordable products.
- Value the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy.
- Acknowledge and consider career opportunities in the agriculture, food, and fiber industries.”
2023 marked 50 years of celebrating and recognizing America’s agricultural industry for its high impact on our country. The ongoing theme is “Growing a Climate for Tomorrow.”

“There is a common spirit across America’s agricultural community: a respect for tradition, a drive to innovate, and a commitment to never giving up - even when the going gets tough. … American farms remind us of the beauty and generosity of our Nation. They feed the country and the world, and with each new planting season, they embody that most American of things - possibilities,” - President Biden.
